The software is designed to model the operation and performance of urban public transport systems, including multi-modal (integrated) journeys, in order to estimate their likely performance. The system uses simulation to describe how travel requests are being executed, given a set of possible transportation modes. LITRES-2 takes the passengers’ perspective and simulates the route choices and use of the service based on experienced generalized costs, consisting of monetary costs and travel times.
The trip-requests contain information regarding transport mode and time-windows for departure and arrival.
